Aramco, the Saudi Arabian oil giant, has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with GCT Semiconductor Holding (GCTS) a prominent player in 5G and 4G semiconductor solutions, in a bid to fortify the 4G/5G ecosystem in the kingdom. The collaboration seeks to pave the way for the development of chipsets and modules tailored for LTE, 5G, and the NTN spectrum, supporting the localization of wireless devices and IoT manufacturing across Saudi Arabia.
John Schlaefer, CEO of GCT Semiconductor, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting the company’s commitment to leveraging advanced 4G and 5G capabilities to bolster the local ecosystem. The collaboration aims to integrate AI-driven modem features to ensure reliable and high-speed communication for critical applications in Saudi Arabia and the wider region.
