The stock climbed as much as 20% following the release as the company demonstrated that strong customer demand continues to support its aggressive expansion strategy.

For the second quarter, CoreWeave reported revenue of approximately $2.5 billion, more than doubling from the prior year, while posting a loss of $1.14 per share, significantly better than analysts’ expectations for a $1.41 per share loss. The company also delivered adjusted operating income of $128 million, nearly double the consensus estimate of $66 million, suggesting its expanding scale is beginning to translate into improved operating leverage.

CEO Michael Intrator described the quarter as an important turning point for the company, noting that enterprise demand for AI infrastructure continues to accelerate as more organizations deploy artificial intelligence applications. He emphasized that CoreWeave’s purpose-built cloud platform is benefiting from broadening customer adoption while the company continues to deepen its technology capabilities.

The company ended the quarter with a $104 billion revenue backlog, providing significant long-term revenue visibility. Management also disclosed that the figure excludes an additional $25 billion of customer commitments secured early in the third quarter, further highlighting the strength of demand for GPU computing capacity.

CoreWeave continues investing billions of dollars to expand its network of AI data centers, providing the computing power needed by customers such as Meta and Anthropic to train and operate advanced AI models. However, competition is beginning to intensify. Companies including SpaceX have entered the AI infrastructure market by leasing computing capacity from their own data centers, while Meta has also indicated it may eventually commercialize excess AI capacity.

Despite the growing competitive landscape, CoreWeave’s latest results reinforce its position as one of the leading providers of AI cloud infrastructure. With demand for compute continuing to outpace supply, investors will closely monitor whether the company can maintain its rapid growth while expanding margins and defending its market position.

Revenue more than doubles, operating leverage improves, and a massive backlog highlights accelerating enterprise AI adoption CoreWeave (CRWV) shares surged in premarket trading after the AI cloud infrastructure provider reported second-quarter results that exceeded Wall Street expectations, easing investor concerns about growth and profitability.
