SpaceX (SPCX) shares moved higher Thursday as investors weighed changes to the company\u2019s artificial intelligence data center strategy against growing momentum in its satellite defense business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
SpaceX is reportedly restructuring its data center operations after reliability and engineering issues emerged at facilities in Tennessee and Mississippi. Engineers and executives from the company\u2019s rocket and Starlink divisions have been brought in to oversee operations, with a greater emphasis on backup power, cooling systems and reliability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The shift could result in slower construction compared with the aggressive approach previously used by xAI to rapidly expand AI computing capacity. However, improving reliability could become increasingly important as SpaceX scales infrastructure supporting demanding AI workloads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, the company\u2019s defense business continues to gain international traction. The United Kingdom has spent nearly $40 million on SpaceX satellite services, including approximately $17.6 million on Starshield, its military-focused satellite communications platform, and additional spending on Starlink. Britain has deployed roughly 1,000 Starshield and 500 Starlink terminals, becoming the first country outside the United States to publicly acknowledge adopting Starshield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
SpaceX\u2019s growing defense footprint provides another potential growth engine alongside Starlink, launch services and its expanding AI ambitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
