xAI Scales Up with 200,000 GPUs Installed, Eyes 1 Million at New Facility<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Elon Musk\u00a0said Tuesday that he expects Tesla and xAI will continue buying chips from semiconductor giants\u00a0Nvidia (NVDA)\u00a0and\u00a0AMD (AMD), and possibly others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Musk\u2019s artificial intelligence company, xAI, which now owns X (formerly Twitter) has already installed 200,000 GPUs at its Colossus facility in Memphis, the\u00a0Tesla\u00a0CEO told CNBC\u2019s David Faber on Tuesday. XAI is also planning a 1 million GPU facility outside of Memphis, Musk said.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He did not specify how many chips the company had already ordered and by which date they may be installed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA few years ago, I made a very obvious prediction, which is that the limitation on AI will be chips,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At his autos business,\u00a0Tesla, Musk said the company\u2019s Dojo supercomputer in Buffalo, New York is already used for training its Autopilot and Optimus robotics systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
