Trump said on Truth Social that he met with Tan alongside Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, describing the discussion as \u201cvery interesting\u201d and praising Tan\u2019s \u201camazing\u201d personal story. He added that Tan and his Cabinet will \u201cspend time together\u201d in the coming week to \u201cbring suggestions,\u201d without providing specifics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Intel confirmed the meeting, calling it a \u201ccandid and constructive discussion\u201d focused on strengthening U.S. technology and manufacturing leadership. According to the Wall Street Journal, Tan sought to outline his background and propose areas for government collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting followed a sharp exchange last week when Trump, echoing Republican Sen. Tom Cotton\u2019s concerns over Tan\u2019s ties to Chinese investments through his venture capital firm, Walden International, called for the CEO\u2019s \u201cimmediate\u201d resignation. Tan dismissed what he described as \u201cmisinformation\u201d about his career, reaffirming his adherence to \u201cthe highest legal and ethical standards\u201d over four decades in the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
