While Rivian positioned the R2 as a more accessible alternative to its current lineup, the most affordable version \u2014 expected to compete directly with the <strong>Tesla Model Y<\/strong> \u2014 will not reach customers until at least <strong>late 2027<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company announced that the <strong>R2 Performance with Launch Package<\/strong> will be the first variant available, arriving later this year with a starting price of <strong>$57,990<\/strong>. The high-end model features a <strong>dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 656 horsepower and 609 lb-ft of torque<\/strong>, allowing the SUV to accelerate from <strong>0 to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds<\/strong>. It also offers an <strong>EPA-estimated range of 330 miles<\/strong> and includes special Launch Package perks such as lifetime access to Rivian\u2019s Autonomy+ driver assistance service and an exclusive Launch Green exterior color.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A slightly more affordable <strong>R2 Premium<\/strong> trim is scheduled to launch in <strong>late 2026<\/strong>, starting at <strong>$53,990<\/strong>. This version delivers <strong>450 horsepower and 537 lb-ft of torque<\/strong> with a 0-60 mph time of <strong>4.6 seconds<\/strong>, while maintaining the same <strong>330-mile range<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The entry-level <strong>R2 Standard<\/strong> model will arrive in <strong>early 2027<\/strong> with a price of <strong>$48,490<\/strong>. It features a single rear-motor setup producing <strong>350 horsepower<\/strong> and offers the <strong>longest estimated range in the lineup at up to 345 miles<\/strong>. Rivian also plans a second Standard variant later in 2027 priced at around <strong>$45,000<\/strong>, with a smaller battery and an estimated <strong>265-plus miles of range<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rivian is betting the R2\u2019s adventure-focused design, technology, and premium interior materials will attract buyers looking for an alternative to Tesla.
