Delivery is expected in late May 2026, with the vehicles set to enter a pilot deployment program aimed at validating performance and scalability.

The trucks, developed in collaboration with SAIC Hongyan Automotive Co., Ltd. and operating under the UNEX EV brand, integrate advanced engineering with U Power’s proprietary battery-swapping and intelligent energy management systems. The company has also partnered with Whale Logistics (Thailand) Co., Ltd., a major logistics provider, to deploy up to 1,000 electric heavy-duty trucks over the next three years, creating one of Southeast Asia’s largest electrified logistics fleets.

A central innovation behind the initiative is battery-swapping technology, which allows depleted batteries to be replaced with fully charged units in minutes—eliminating long charging times that have historically limited electric truck adoption. This approach is expected to significantly improve fleet utilization, reduce operating costs, and lower carbon emissions across logistics networks.

The Thailand pilot follows the successful completion of operational testing and full system integration earlier this month, confirming the vehicles’ safety, reliability, and compatibility within U Power’s broader ecosystem. The deployment will generate real-world data on fleet performance, battery efficiency, and logistics integration—insights that are critical for scaling the model globally.

CEO Johnny Lee emphasized that the initiative represents a strategic step toward electrifying commercial transportation. Beyond Thailand, U Power plans to leverage findings from the pilot program to expand its battery-swapping infrastructure and EV platforms across Southeast Asia and other international markets.

As global demand for cleaner and more efficient freight solutions rises, U Power’s approach could position the company at the forefront of a new era in electric logistics, where speed, efficiency, and sustainability converge.

You might like this article:Nebius Stock Falls After $3.75 Billion Debt Raise Despite Major AI Deals

Battery-swapping technology aims to transform logistics efficiency and accelerate global EV adoption U Power Limited (UCAR) announced the completion of production for its first batch of 30 battery-swapping electric heavy-duty trucks designated for the Thailand market, marking a key milestone in the company’s push to commercialize next-generation transportation solutions.
