Oppenheimer sees mass adoption tailwinds; Congress to debate pro-crypto legislation this week
Shares of Coinbase Global (COIN) climbed Monday as optimism grew around both the price of bitcoin and a wave of upcoming crypto legislation in Congress. The rally follows a bullish call from Oppenheimer analysts, who raised their price target for the cryptocurrency exchange operator to $417 from $395.
The new target implies a 7% upside from Coinbase’s Friday close near $387 and reflects growing confidence in the company’s positioning amid broader digital asset adoption. The firm said Coinbase is “well positioned to benefit from mass adoption of digital assets,” particularly if pending legislation gains traction in Washington.
Congress is expected to debate three crypto-friendly bills this week, including the GENIUS Act, which aims to create a regulatory framework for stablecoins, and the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which would provide clearer oversight of crypto markets. Analysts believe successful passage could legitimize the industry and accelerate mainstream adoption.
Coinbase shares rose roughly 2% on Monday as bitcoin traded above $120,000, continuing its record-breaking rally. The stock is up 59% year to date and remains one of the top-performing names in the fintech and digital asset sectors.
Separately, Argus Research initiated coverage of Coinbase on Monday with a $400 price target, citing the company’s strong long-term growth prospects and strategic position in the evolving regulatory landscape.
With institutional interest growing and clearer U.S. policy potentially on the horizon, analysts see Coinbase as a primary beneficiary of crypto’s next chapter.
