Ford Motor (F) witnessed a remarkable 10.5% surge in U.S. sales last month compared to February 2023, with notable increases attributed to its hybrid and all-electric vehicle offerings.
The Detroit-based automaker revealed Monday that it recorded sales of 174,192 cars and trucks in February, with electrified vehicle sales experiencing an 81% upswing and hybrid models seeing a substantial 32% increase. Traditional internal combustion engine sales also saw a notable uptick, rising by 7.5% year-over-year.
The significant boost in hybrid sales reflects Ford’s strategic commitment to intensify its focus on this technology. In February alone, the company reported hybrid sales totaling 12,045 units, including strong demand for its small Maverick Hybrid pickup, which accounted for 6,463 units.
While hybrid and electric vehicle sales soared, traditional cars and trucks still dominated Ford’s sales portfolio, constituting 89.5% of total sales for the month.
Despite challenges such as fluctuating demand and pricing dynamics, Ford witnessed robust sales across its all-electric vehicle lineup, including a notable 64.3% surge in sales of the Mustang Mach-E crossover and nearly double the sales volume for the all-electric F-150 Lightning pickup.
With total year-to-date sales reaching 311,325 units, a 6.6% increase compared to the same period last year, Ford remains optimistic about its growth trajectory. Shares of Ford surged by more than 4% during Monday morning trading, signaling investor confidence in the company’s performance amidst a competitive automotive landscape.
