Company’s position nears $77 billion valuation amid market swings
A U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing on Monday revealed that Strategy purchased 430 Bitcoin last week for approximately $51.4 million, underscoring its continued commitment to cryptocurrency despite ongoing market volatility.
The acquisition was made at an average price of $119,666 per coin. The timing highlighted Bitcoin’s sharp fluctuations, with the digital asset climbing above $124,000 midweek before retreating to around $115,000 by Sunday.
With this latest purchase, Strategy now holds 629,376 Bitcoin, accumulated at a total cost of about $46.15 billion. The company’s average acquisition price stands at $73,320 per coin, significantly below current market levels. At last week’s peak, Strategy’s holdings briefly touched a record valuation of $77.2 billion, reinforcing its status as the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin.
The filing also included updates to the company’s MSTR Equity At-The-Market (ATM) Guidance, a financing tool that allows the firm to raise capital by selling shares at prevailing market prices. The company said the move is intended to provide “greater flexibility in executing our capital markets strategy,” suggesting that additional purchases or balance sheet adjustments could follow.
The new investment comes as Bitcoin continues to trade near record highs, fueled by increased institutional interest, exchange-traded fund inflows, and growing acceptance of digital assets as a hedge against inflation and economic uncertainty.
While skeptics remain cautious about Bitcoin’s volatility, Strategy’s aggressive accumulation highlights its long-term conviction in the cryptocurrency as a core treasury reserve asset. The company has consistently leaned on both debt offerings and equity sales to expand its holdings, a strategy that has drawn both admiration and criticism on Wall Street.
For now, Strategy’s bold bet has once again placed it at the center of the Bitcoin narrative, cementing its role as a bellwether for corporate crypto adoption.
