Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang to Skip Trump Inauguration Amid Regulatory Challenges

Tech giant’s leader focuses on global AI promotion during pivotal time for the industry

Nvidia (NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang will not attend the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump on January 20, breaking ranks with other high-profile technology leaders. Huang, who traditionally visits East Asia around Lunar New Year, has never attended a U.S. presidential inauguration, according to sources familiar with his plans.

This absence contrasts with the presence of industry leaders like Apple (AAPL) CEO Tim Cook, Amazon (AMZN) co-founder Jeff Bezos, and Tesla’s (TSLA) Elon Musk, who are expected to attend. A representative for Nvidia declined to comment on Huang’s schedule or any discussions with the incoming administration.

Earlier this month, Huang expressed optimism about Trump’s potential to reduce regulation, a move he believes could benefit the fast-moving tech industry. However, Nvidia has faced recent regulatory challenges under the Biden administration, including tighter export controls on its advanced AI chips. Nvidia has criticized these measures, calling them an “overreach” that could stifle innovation.

As the world’s leading chipmaker, Nvidia has played a pivotal role in advancing AI technology. While Huang skips the political event, his global efforts to promote AI underscore his commitment to the company’s vision amid changing political landscapes.
