$300,000 award to support modernization, workforce training, and growth in Nevada’s clean energy economy
Dragonfly Energy Holdings (DFLI), the Reno-based maker of Battle Born Batteries®, announced it has been selected by Nevada Tech Hub for funding in the program’s first round of awards. The initiative, part of a federally designated network of 31 Tech Hubs nationwide, aims to bolster Nevada’s lithium battery supply chain and workforce development.
The award, expected to total about $300,000, will be applied toward production system upgrades, workforce expansion, and high-impact modernization initiatives. Dragonfly plans to advance toward ISO 9001 certification, modernize its battery manufacturing lines, and adopt new production technologies. These improvements could yield six-figure annual savings, which the company intends to reinvest into training programs with Truckee Meadows Community College and the University of Nevada, Reno.
“This award is more than just an investment in Dragonfly Energy, it is an investment in Nevada’s future,” said Dr. Denis Phares, CEO of Dragonfly Energy. “As a homegrown company, we are proud to contribute to Nevada’s goal of becoming the nation’s hub for lithium battery innovation. This non-dilutive capital gives us the ability to modernize operations, expand our skilled workforce, and create long-term economic growth.”
Nevada Tech Hub’s support underscores Dragonfly’s role in the state’s “Lithium Loop,” a regional ecosystem linking extraction, processing, manufacturing, and recycling. With nearly 400,000 square feet of manufacturing space in South Reno, the company says it is well-positioned to scale operations and anchor high-value clean energy jobs.
“By funding projects that grow manufacturing and workforce capabilities, we’re ensuring Nevada remains at the center of the U.S. energy storage economy,” added Dick Bartholet, regional innovation officer for Nevada Tech Hub.
The collaboration highlights Dragonfly’s role in shaping Nevada’s clean-tech future while positioning the company for long-term growth in the global battery market.
