Bitcoin Slides Below $67,000 as Investor Capitulation Weighs on Market Sentiment

Traders monitor key support levels as selling pressure intensifies across the cryptocurrency market

Bitcoin (BTC) extended its recent decline on Wednesday, falling more than 2% to trade near $66,000 as investor sentiment weakened and selling pressure accelerated. The world’s largest cryptocurrency has faced a challenging stretch, with traders reacting to signs that some long-term holders are beginning to exit positions.

A key catalyst behind the recent weakness was the disclosure that Strategy, one of the largest corporate holders of Bitcoin, sold 32 bitcoins for the first time since 2022. Although the transaction represented only a tiny fraction of the company’s more than 843,000 bitcoin holdings, the move surprised investors because it marked a departure from the firm’s long-standing buy-and-hold approach championed by Executive Chairman Michael Saylor.

Market analysts are closely watching the $65,000 level, which is viewed as a critical area of support. A sustained break below that threshold could open the door for a decline toward the February low near $60,000.

At the same time, data suggests that investors who purchased Bitcoin above $90,000 are increasingly capitulating. While painful in the short term, some analysts believe this wave of selling may indicate the bear market is entering its later stages, potentially laying the groundwork for a future recovery.
