Strategy Stock Climbs as Michael Saylor Raises $263 Million Without Selling Bitcoin

Capital raise strengthens cash position while preserving the company’s long-term Bitcoin investment strategy

Strategy (MSTR) shares climbed 5% on Monday after the company disclosed that it raised approximately $263 million through the sale of common stock last week. Notably, the company did not buy or sell any Bitcoin during the reporting period, signaling its continued commitment to maintaining one of the largest corporate Bitcoin holdings in the world.

The latest capital raise provides Strategy with additional financial flexibility as it navigates a challenging environment marked by Bitcoin’s recent price weakness and increasing dividend obligations. By issuing new shares instead of selling digital assets, the company can strengthen its cash reserves while preserving its long-term Bitcoin investment thesis.

Investors have closely watched Strategy’s evolving capital allocation strategy after the stock declined roughly 34% since the beginning of 2026. The prolonged downturn in Bitcoin has increased pressure on the company’s balance sheet, prompting management to introduce a broader turnaround plan designed to improve liquidity and manage future obligations.

Last month, Strategy authorized the potential sale of up to $1.25 billion worth of Bitcoin if needed, with proceeds available for cash reserves or share repurchases. The company also approved up to $2 billion in stock buybacks, split evenly between common and preferred shares. Although Strategy sold 2,225 Bitcoin earlier in July, it has not reduced its holdings over the past two weeks.

The company’s approach highlights the delicate balance between supporting shareholder value and maintaining its identity as a Bitcoin-focused treasury company. For now, the latest stock offering suggests management remains committed to holding its core Bitcoin position while using equity financing to meet near-term cash needs. Investors will continue watching whether Strategy can successfully navigate market volatility without significantly reducing its cryptocurrency holdings.
