Ideal Power (IPWR), a trailblazer in semiconductor innovation, announced a multi-unit order for its SymCool IQ intelligent power module from a customer specializing in circuit protection and power conversion solutions. This achievement marks a pivotal step in the commercialization of Ideal Power’s B-TRAN technology, renowned for its bidirectional operation and high efficiency.
The order builds on the customer’s prior interest in Ideal Power’s SymCool power modules and drivers. The customer is evaluating the SymCool IQ module for various applications, including solid-state circuit protection and power conversion across electric vehicles (EVs), EV charging, renewable energy, and data center markets.

SymCool IQ enhances Ideal Power’s product line by integrating an intelligent driver optimized for bidirectional operation into the B-TRAN-based multi-die packaging design. Rated at 1200V and 200A, SymCool IQ offers advantages over traditional insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) modules, including reduced energy losses and lower thermal management requirements.
The module’s benefits extend to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) customers, offering increased energy savings, lower operating costs, and more compact, cost-effective solutions. Its integrated intelligent driver adds protection features such as overcurrent protection, under-voltage protection, and temperature sensing, ensuring robust performance in demanding applications. Furthermore, the module’s 62-millimeter industrial power semiconductor package aligns with industry standards, simplifying adoption for OEMs.
