Broadcom Delivers Stellar Quarter as AI Growth Accelerates

Strong earnings, record AI demand, and CEO Hock Tan’s extended leadership bolster outlook

Broadcom (AVGO) has once again reinforced its reputation as a rising powerhouse in the semiconductor sector, reporting quarterly results that surpassed Wall Street expectations and underscoring its growing dominance in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure.

Revenue for the quarter climbed 22% to $15.95 billion, powered by a 63% surge in AI-related sales to $5.2 billion. Non-GAAP earnings per share rose 36% to $1.69, while gross margins and operating margins hit 78.4% and 65.5%, respectively—both ahead of forecasts. Free cash flow of $7.02 billion represented a 46% increase, though it came in slightly below expectations.

The company also revealed a massive consolidated backlog of $110 billion, strengthened by a new $10 billion order of custom ASICs from a fourth large language model (LLM) customer. Market watchers believe the client is likely OpenAI, with additional hyperscaler deals expected in the near future.

Looking ahead, Broadcom issued bullish guidance, projecting fourth-quarter revenue of $17.4 billion, a 24% increase year-over-year. AI revenue is expected to accelerate to $6.4 billion, marking a 66% annual increase and 23% sequential growth.

Adding to investor confidence, CEO Hock Tan has agreed to remain at the helm through 2030, ensuring continuity in the company’s aggressive AI strategy. “Demand for custom AI accelerators from our customers continues to grow,” Tan noted, emphasizing Broadcom’s strengthening role in helping tech giants pursue compute self-sufficiency.

While non-AI segments like broadband remain sluggish, Broadcom’s AI momentum appears poised to offset those challenges. With accelerating demand, long-term leadership stability, and expanding partnerships, Broadcom has positioned itself as a key rival to Nvidia in the race to supply next-generation AI infrastructure.
