Q3 Revenue Soars to $35.1 Billion, Driven by AI Demand and Data Center Expansion

NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA), a global leader in AI and graphics processing technologies, has reported a record-breaking revenue of $35.1 billion for its third fiscal quarter ended October 27, 2024. This represents a remarkable 17% sequential increase and a 94% surge compared to the same period last year. The performance highlights the company’s pivotal role in the AI revolution and its ability to capitalize on the growing global demand for advanced computing solutions.

Unprecedented Financial Growth

NVIDIA’s revenue surge was largely driven by its Data Center segment, which accounted for $30.8 billion—up 17% from Q2 and an astonishing 112% from the prior year.

In terms of profitability, NVIDIA also demonstrated significant growth:

  • GAAP Earnings Per Share (EPS): $0.78, up 16% sequentially and 111% year-over-year.
  • Non-GAAP EPS: $0.81, up 19% sequentially and 103% year-over-year.

These results underscore NVIDIA’s strong execution in meeting the growing demands of enterprises and governments for AI-enabled solutions and infrastructure.

CEO Highlights AI’s Transformative Power

“The age of AI is in full steam, propelling a global shift to NVIDIA computing,” said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA. “Demand for Hopper and anticipation for Blackwell — in full production — are incredible as foundation model makers scale pretraining, post-training, and inference.”

Huang highlighted how AI is reshaping industries, accelerating innovation in robotics, telecommunications, and enterprise workflows, and prompting national investments in AI infrastructure.

Data Center Dominance

The Data Center segment continues to be the cornerstone of NVIDIA’s success, achieving record-breaking revenue. Key developments include:

  • The launch of NVIDIA Hopper H200-powered cloud instances across major providers, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and CoreWeave.
  • Denmark unveiling its largest sovereign AI supercomputer powered by NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD™ technology.
  • Japan’s SoftBank Corp. building its most powerful AI supercomputer using NVIDIA Blackwell and piloting the world’s first integrated AI and 5G network.
  • Partnerships in Asia driving AI infrastructure with NVIDIA accelerated computing in India, Japan, and Indonesia.

NVIDIA also expanded its collaboration with industry leaders such as Accenture, Deloitte, and Google Cloud, integrating NVIDIA AI Enterprise software to build custom AI applications.

Gaming and AI PC Innovations

Gaming revenue reached $3.3 billion in Q3, marking a 14% sequential increase and 15% growth year-over-year. The segment celebrated major milestones, including the 25th anniversary of the GeForce® 256 GPU, which revolutionized gaming and laid the foundation for AI-driven computing.

New product releases and demonstrations, such as NVIDIA ACE and digital human technologies in popular games, showcase the integration of AI into gaming experiences. The company also began shipping RTX AI PCs featuring advanced AI operations, with further enhancements expected in the next quarter.

Professional Visualization and Automotive Advances

NVIDIA’s Professional Visualization revenue grew 7% sequentially and 17% year-over-year to $486 million. Innovations in this segment include:

  • Digital twins and industrial AI built on NVIDIA Omniverse™, which Foxconn is using to streamline factory operations.
  • AI-powered solutions adopted by manufacturers like Toyota and Ola Motors to improve efficiency and automate workflows.
  • NVIDIA Holoscan for Media, enabling AI-enhanced live media production pipelines.

In the Automotive segment, revenue surged by 30% sequentially and 72% year-over-year to $449 million. Highlights include:

  • Volvo’s new electric SUV powered by NVIDIA’s accelerated computing platform.
  • Project GR00T, offering AI and simulation tools for robotics and humanoid development.

Q4 Guidance and Outlook

Looking ahead, NVIDIA projects fourth-quarter revenue of $37.5 billion, plus or minus 2%, driven by continued AI demand and further data center expansion. The company expects robust gross margins of 73.0% (GAAP) and 73.5% (non-GAAP), alongside operating expenses of $4.8 billion (GAAP) and $3.4 billion (non-GAAP).

AI Transformation Across Industries

NVIDIA’s role in enabling AI adoption spans multiple sectors, including:

  • Telecommunications: AI-RAN solutions developed with T-Mobile, Ericsson, and Nokia.
  • Supercomputing: Building the world’s fastest AI systems in collaboration with partners like Foxconn and governments in Asia and Europe.
  • Industrial AI: Driving automation and innovation in manufacturing through partnerships with leading companies in India and Japan.

Strategic Partnerships and AI Momentum

NVIDIA’s collaborations with global cloud providers, consulting firms, and manufacturers continue to amplify its influence in the AI landscape. The company’s ongoing investments in AI research, infrastructure, and advanced GPUs position it as a driving force behind the AI transformation reshaping industries worldwide.

NVIDIA’s Q3 results underscore its unmatched leadership in AI and accelerated computing. With record-breaking revenue, groundbreaking product launches, and strategic partnerships, the company is not only meeting the demands of the AI era but also shaping its trajectory. As NVIDIA projects further growth and innovation in the coming quarters, it remains at the forefront of the technological revolution transforming businesses and societies globally.
